Our 2yo Storm Has Broken was a topical winner of the nursery at Dundalk tonight as Storm Brian swept the country. He's a horse I've loved working with since I bought him for €6,000 at the Goffs Sportsman Sale.
Storm Has Broken did it the hard way making all the running from his wide draw in stall 14. He's a tough horse who really battles for you and showed those qualities all the way to the line. This was only his 4th run and there were still signs of inexperience there.
I'm delighted for his owners for whom this is their first horse. The syndicate members are from Ireland, UK and US and it was fantastic that some of them were here tonight to see their first winner. They clearly made the trip pay judging by how his odds tumbled from earlier in the morning!
Storm Has Broken is available to be bought and I think he's a horse who will give lots of fun to whoever owns him going forward. I hope we manage to hold onto him at the yard since I believe there'll be winning days ahead with him. 7 furlongs looks ideal form him at present and I think he'll be useful on both the all weather and the grass. I also expect further improvement when he matures into his frame next season. He's a horse for whom there will be plenty of options throughout the year.
