Grey Danube Bounces Back in Impressive Fashion For His 5th Win
December 19, 2014
Delighted to see Grey Danube bounce back tonight at Dundalk in impressive fashion on his second run since his summer break. Things didnt go his way the last day but he made no mistake this time and landed the bets once again (backed in from 12/1 this morning).
This looked a competitive handicap beforehand but he spreadeagled the field up the straight and won with a bit in hand. It's unusual to see a field strung out so much over the final furlong of these sprints. The strong early pace and overall fast time brought out the best in him.
Another perfectly executed ride from the excellent Leigh Roche who gets on so well with this horse. Given the ease of Grey Danube's win tonight I think we can look forward to even better days ahead with him. He continues to mature both physically and mentally.
He's been a wonderful horse for the yard and has given us so many great days out. This was his fifth win and he loves it around here. He puts everything into each run and needs a good break between races to be seen at his best.
We'll look for another suitable opportunity around here for him in the New Year. I feel he will be even better over 7f (his previous wins coming at 5f and 6f).
We have the yard Christmas party on Sunday night and now we'll have to hang up banners of the various bookmakers who have kindly sponsored it!
