Winston Wolfe did us proud tonight showing real determination to win the CEF Electrical Maiden at Dundalk. Himself and the 2nd horse pulled clear of the field but Winston is as tough and genuine as they come and was never going to be denied. He has been so consistent in his previous runs and was unlucky not to win before now.
I'm particularly delighted for his owners, Shauna Carroll and Daniel Givens, who are a real joy to train for and have been very patient with this horse. It's lovely to see that rewarded and I think he'll go on to better things for them. He's a lovely big horse and will be capable of mixing it on flat and over jumps. He has already been schooling at home and is one of the most natural jumpers I've ever come across. He absolutely loves it.
I purchased him at Tattersalls Yearling Sale (Book 3) for 8,000 guineas and he was a horse I liked from the first time I set eyes on him. He's got lots of scope and is a very fluent mover. He also has a great temperament and is a lovely horse to work with.
Leigh Roche gave him a great ride again tonight and the team have also done an excellent job with him. Many thanks for all the kind messages we've received since the win.
