Elzaam Blue Flashes Home For Exciting Debut Win

Owner Siobhán Ní Cheallaigh - Greets Her Winner

Brilliant win from Elzaam Blue in the mile maiden at Dundalk today on his debut. The first half of the race didn't go his way at all and he got a lot further back in the field than we would have wanted. That's just the kind of thing that can happen to a horse on debut.

In the home straight Billy gradually got him back into it but as the favourite kicked clear with a furlong to race you'd imagine we were going to be a good second at best. But what a finishing kick from our boy in the last half furlong! I was very impressed with how he overcame things and finished so strongly.

I'm especially delighted for Siobhán Ní Cheallaigh and Phil Egan. This is Siobhán's first runner as an owner and what a way to start with such an exciting winner. Philip is a valued

member of our team at the stables and is a very talented young horseman. It's amazing to

think that he went to the sales and bought this horse for only £800. He loved the horse from

day one and has shown great patience to give him all the time he needed to mature.

Brilliant for Siobhán, Philip and their families and they got such a great kick out of this win, as indeed did all our team. Although it's always a tough ask to win on debut, we came here tonight with a lot of confidence in this horse given what he has been showing us consistently in his work at home.

Many thanks to Billy Lee for a great job in getting the job done on the day. I think Elzaam Blue will come forward massively from this run. He's a horse with a very bright future and I can't wait to see him on the racecourse again.
